Healing the Land provides a suite of free trainings to farmers, ranchers, and land stewards across the Northeast as they work to create a healthier earth and advance indigenous food sovereignty. In partnership with Global Village and the Northeast Organic Farming Association, we offer guidance and mentorship around climate mitigation, natural resource conservation, and soil health. We also include opportunities for individuals, farms, and/or organizations to (re)envision their land ethic and integrate indigenous knowledge into their practice.
The historic Wainer Woods Farm in Westport, MA was once the homestead of Michael Wainer (Micah Quaben, his Native American Name) and served as a community hub for generations. Today the descendants of Michael Wainer and team of scientists, artists, and activists, led by Pocasset Wampanoag of Pokanoket Nation Chief Nij-Pajikwat-Mo’z (Chief Two Running Elk/Chief Robert Cox), are developing plans to revitalize this historic property and share it with those interested in learning more about Native American Indian and African American history in Westport.

The Direct Assistance program provides financial support to families struggling to keep up with the seemingly endless rise in food, utilities, and housing costs. In partnership with The Boston Foundation, we provide assistance to help families weather the storm, while also providing referrals to local, state, and federal services for situations requiring more long-term solutions.
